NoteThe author entered the RN in 1860 and first served in the 6 gun paddle sloop HMS Geyser before being posted too the Chaina Station where he served in Eurayus. He next served in HMS Leven, then the Gladiator on the American Station. HMS Liffey during a revolution in Chile (1891) etc., etc. In 1897 he resigned his commission and became a Nautical Assessor in the Court of Appeal. |
