SOLENT SHORES
Ever since the turn of the century, the Solent has provided those
who sail with a wonderful natural playground. It is also an area
steeped in history and despite its importance as a centre of
maritime commerce, there are many secluded creeks and inlets
where wildlife abounds and ancient buildings hold the secrets
of ages past.
This book is written for those with an interest in the environment,
history and personality of the Solent's shores from Bembridge to the Needles on the Isle of Wight and from Hurst Castle to Chichester on the mainland coast.
John Glasspool has sailed and explored the Solent mainly in the
smaller shallow draught boats he loves so much.
As a working
journalist he is based in Southampton and lives in the small town
of Titchfield close by the sea. |
