GREAT STORMS
by L. G. Carr Laughton & V. Heddon
First published 1927 by Philip Allan, London
Second edition NAUTILUS LIBRARY No. 13 1930 by PHILIP ALLAN & CO. LTD
The front and back blue non-shiny cloth of the boards is clean and uniformly coloured, although the spine has been sunned through the wrapper; behind the blue the original colour of the cloth can be seen. The spine's gilt is a little lacklustre but nautilus to front board is bright. Corners sharp and book’s overall condition VERY GOOD PLUS. No foxing at all, all pages pristine and white except for the front free end paper, which has a small daub of what seems to be correction ink, which is the only 'inscription'. The rough cut edges of the page block are surprisingly very neat for these Nautilus editions which I put down to quite a few being uncut.

A fascinating record of famous storms, gales and hurricanes entwining mythology, superstition and fact. The authors manage to cover a great deal of ground in twelve chapters including the post Trafalgar storm, the Tay bridge disaster and China Seas typhoons. |
