Condition
A blue cloth bound book with gilt lettering to front board. Blind edge decoration to front and back boards. Extremities are very lightly rubbed. Boards are still square with corners, although a little worn still very neat. Very little foxing and pages very clean. Hinges are sound. Original owner's, a Henry Jeffery, signature dated 29th. September 1884 is at the top of the front paste down although the title page states the boook was reprinted in 1886. A later owner, an assistant Scout Master (67th. Porsmouth) has written his details in ink below. Title page can be seen by placing cursor over the image of the front board.
Condition is at least VERY GOOD PLUS.

Immediately below: Book is open at pages 208-209. Although the text is interspersed with illustrations there are many illustrated full pages. These pages show and explain the use of rope and iron nippers,; the working of the controller; a view of the Patent Capstan at work and catting and fishing of an anchor. This illustration when clicked will show a much enlarged view to enable the text and illustrations to be viewed closely. The changes of colour in these images is a result of thescanning process, pages are clean and a uniform light cream colour.
Below: This shows the book open at pages 292-293. These pages explain that iron bowsprits are seldom or never used in the Royal Navy and that ships supplied with iron masts, such as rams, have wooden bowsprits for running in. Text and diagrams then go on to show how to rig a lower mast and send a whole main top aloft! This illustration when clicked will show a much enlarged view to enable the text and illustrations to be viewed closely.

Estimated postage costs are usually based on Royal Mail First class prices for UK on items valued at less than £46.00 but extra costs may be involved with more expensive items. Outside the UK postage costs are for basic Royal Mail Airmail.
Any preferences concerning postage/delivery by the purchaser will always be considered.

My returns policies
If you wish to return a book please let me know as soon as possible but no later than three days after receipt.
If you feel, and I agree after we have discussed it, that my description was misleading or inaccurate then, upon the receipt of the book in the condition you received it, I will then refund all your payment plus your return postage.
If the book isn't what you really wanted and if we agree, then, upon my receipt of the book in the condition you received it, I will then refund your bid price. I have found, so far, that the majority of my buyers are genuine. For my part I try and describe the books as fairly as possible - I am not a professional - and do not like buyers to feel dissatisfied. I am happy to pack together multiple buys made within a seven day period and post at cost as long as total value of purchases in the packet does not exceed the Royal Mail's built in compensation, which at the moment is £46.00.
