Jacket blurb

Pressed into King George's Navy for the second time in a month, John Pearce and his Pelicans find themselves working aboard HMS Griffin, sailing the Channel from Plymouth to Diwer in search of the numerous French privateers that prey on English merchant shipping: her task to stop them and, if possible, to capture or destroy them.

For Pearce's crew members, life aboard Griffin is far from rewarding: a slow and overcrowded ship, Griffin finds it hard to catch her:prey, meaning that the promised bounty from the captured ships never materialises. But Pearce has greater things on his mind: he must rescue his ailing father from the dangers of revolutionary Paris, and to do that he must somehow leave the ship. With the help of his Pelicans, Pearce attempts to start a mutiny. — the less effective the ship, the less happy the crew and the more chance he has of escaping when the ship enters harbour. But in Benjamin Colbourne, the Captain aboard Griffin, Pearce discovers a man with a subtle mind, who finds a way to both meet his needs, as well as to make it appear to the Pelicans that their leader has deserted them.

Travelling to France, Pearce discovers that his worst fears have become reality: he is too late to save 'his father, who is sent to the guillotine. What else is Pearce to do but return to the Griffin to put right the appearance of, betrayal with which he left, and to learn his sea-going trade in order to exact revenge...

Entwining historical rack with fictitious characters, David Donachie has once again created a masterpiece of nautical adventure fiction.

My RETURNS & POSTAGE and PACKING Policies

If you wish to return a book please let me know as soon as possible but no later than three days after receipt.

If you feel, and I agree after we have discussed it, that my description was misleading or inaccurate then, upon the receipt of the book in the condition you received it, I will then refund all your payment plus your return postage.

If the book isn't what you really wanted and if we agree, then, upon my receipt of the book in the condition you received it, I will then refund your bid price.

I have found, so far, that the majority of my buyers are genuine.

For my part I try and describe the books as fairly as possible - I am not a professional - and do not like buyers to feel dissatisfied.

My Postage and Packing charges are calculated before wrapping as best I can with a very nominal amount added for packaging costs.

I am happy to pack together multiple buys made within a seven day period and post at cost as long as total value of purchases in the packet does not exceed the Royal Mail's built in compensation, which at the moment is £36.00.
